In Loving Memory of

Nancy Pritchett

A Daughter of the Confederacy

When the word got to the Chapter that Mrs. Nancy Pritchett passed, everyone’s jaw dropped. She had just became a member of this great organization on July 12th, 2016 only to pass the following September. She was a lover of her heritage and eager to become a member of our Chapter. Once a member, she was proud to state she was a Daughter of the Confederacy. The Chapter was heart broken to see her struggle with her illness of about 13 years. However, she never let that get her down when it came to her Confederate heritage and her love for the UDC.

“...just by looking at her a lot of times you couldn't tell how bad she must have really felt as she was such a strong lady… She was always smiling and touched many people with her sweet spirit,” our president, Sharon Jennings, said in a heart felt email to the members. “I personally felt truly blessed to have known her. She will be greatly missed by so many.”

She was born January 19, 1948, in Danville, Va. Her parents were Lois Inman Gregory and Paul Gregory. She later on married the love of her life, Ricky Pritchett. I am sure there are several members that didn’t know she worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 30 years before she retied from public work. She was a true Southern Lady who loved to travel with her husband to many notable places.

At her celebration of life, the room overflowed with mourners wishing to say goodbye. This just shows how loved she was. People had to stand in the hallway outside the room to attend. Mrs. Pritchett was a wonderful loving soul this side of Heaven.
